Associated Mortgage Bankers (AMB) Review

Background: Associated Mortgage Bankers

Associated Mortgage Bankers, also known as AMB, is a mortgage banker headquartered in Garden City, NY. Founded over 22 years ago, the company specializes in reverse mortgages, and it has grown as large banks such as MetLife have exited the industry. Today, AMB is licensed in the following states: Arizona, Utah, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming, Texas, and the District of Columbia.

Customer Reviews

Associated Mortgage Bankers has an “A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, the highest possible on the BBB’s scale of A+ to F, though AMB has settled 7 complaints in the past three years. That said, there’s few in the way of customer reviews beyond that rating. You will be able to find a review here and there spread across maybe five websites, but there’s simply not enough feedback out there to form any kind of opinion.

Final Thoughts

AMB is a large player in the reverse mortgage industry, and it’s always good to find an “A+” rated company. Given all the baggage that comes with getting a reverse mortgage loan – a negative stigma that thankfully seems to be decreasing – we do wish that more customer reviews were readily available. Part of overcoming the stigma of reverse mortgages is publishing positive experiences from those who’ve been helped by the loan.

As you consider a reverse mortgage, we hope that you take the time to speak to multiple lenders. It’s a big part of getting the best price.
